Product standards:
We don’t carry products without verifying their ability to meet our high standards for health, safety, and environmental responsibility. With the help of Build Clean, we created a survey that we require each of our vendors to complete. The survey focuses on the social and environmental impact of the products, as well as on the social and environmental standards employed by the companies that make them.
We summarize this information for each product on our Social Impact Label. Our customers want to know what our products are made of, where they are made, and what type of company makes them. They want to know whether child labor or animal testing was used in the manufacturing process, and are interested in whether a product’s packaging is recyclable or biodegradable. If a product is non-toxic and does not contain VOCs, we say so. We also disclose when a company is completely transparent in answering our questions. Our Social Impact Label makes it easy to be a responsible consumer and to trust that you are shopping at a responsible retailer.
